One more day
Different than a birthday or anniversary
The only instance where we all collectively
Old and young
Acknowledge time
The physical turning of the page
Writing a new number
Another rotation complete
The past ever growing
While the looming future shrinks
The heaviness of dreams and goals unmet
Adventures not taken
Words unspoken
While the hope of new aspirations perch on the horizon
Memories flood this season
Mountain tops and valleys
Weighing on our conscience
Some have you wishing time would catapult you forward
To ease the pain
Or have a momentous day in the future, now only be tomorrow away
Others make you want time to stand still
Looking into the faces of our babies
Not so round anymore
Now almost eye to eye
New creases and furrows line our reflection
Our loved ones more grey
Will this be their last one
Life is so fleeting and babies don’t keep
The world may seem more chaotic with each turn
Scroll less, serve more
Drop the thief of comparison
Have more contentment
Stop the gossip
Practice gratitude
Get out of the zone of comfort
Be open to a challenge
Worry less, pray more
Say I’m sorry, and mean it
Quit ruminating resentment
Forgive and heal
Make everyday
Even the routine and mundane ones
Full of hope, love, grace, rest and faith
May they all be guided by the One whose idea we were before the beginning
And who we can call Father
Time is His
And He has overcome the world
Happy New Year
